Mode of application ONLINE:

The candidates are required to apply online at the Ministry’s website. The link for online application is made available in the public notice.

Eligibility conditions

1)AGE: Applicants must be under 40 years of age as of September 1st of the current year.

2) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS as on the date specified in the public notice:

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as on August 31st of the current year for applying for Master’s degree or

Doctoral degree respectively.

3)Candidates who have already been abroad for studies/training/ specialization either on scholarships or on their own, for a period exceeding six months are eligible to apply if they have been in India for at least two consecutive years after returning from abroad as on date specified in the public notice.

4) Application of candidate who are already abroad is not considered.

5)Candidates who have received Korean Scholarship at any time are not eligible.

Value of Scholarship
  • Monthly Allowance:  900,000 won (KRW) per month
  • Research Allowance: 210,000 won for students in humanities and social sciences; 240,000 won for students in natural and mechanic sciences, per semester.
  • Relocation (Settlement) Allowance: 200,000 won.
  • Language Training Fee: Full coverage
  • Tuitions:  All admission fees are waived by the host institution (university).  The tuition is paid by NIIED.
  • Dissertation Printing Costs: 500,000 ~ 800,000 won, depending on the actual costs.
  • Medical Insurance: 20,000 won per month will be provided (limited coverage).
  • Special funding for scholars who are proficient in the Korean Language (TOPIK Level 5 or 6): 100,000 won per month (commencing from the degree program)
Tentative dates
  • Announcement of name of the candidates shortlisted for interview: In the second week of March
  •  Interview of the shortlisted candidates: In the last week of March
Communication with applicant Every information related to this scholarship is published at Ministry’s website. The candidates are informed through email regarding their interview.
Selection Process Only shortlisted candidates are called for interview and the Selection Committee comprising of subject experts interviews the candidates. Based on merit, the nominations are made.

Nomination of a candidate by Government of India does not, in any way, guarantee final selection or placement. The final selection rests with the donor country.
