President Kovind to visit Vietnam, Australia
President Ram Nath Kovind will be on a week-long state visit to Vietnam and Australia. This is the first ever visit to Australia of any Indian President. On the first leg of his two-nation tour, Rashtrapatiji will visit Vietnam from 18-20 November 2018 on the invitation of Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam
The President’s visit is part of India’s continuing and growing engagement with countries in the Indo-Pacific region under its “Act East” Policy. During the two-nation visit, the President will be accompanied by high-level delegation which includes Union Minister of State for skill development and entrepreneurship, Anant Kumar Hegde and member of parliaments Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and Dr. Heena Vijaykumar Gavit.
India and Vietnam have a Strategic comprehensive partnership and deep civilization linkages as well as regular high-level visits. This will be the president’s first visit to an ASEAN country since he assumed the office. The second leg of his visit would be Australia which is a strategic partner of India.
